I know the majority of us really dislike that gauge swatch, but in this workshop, you will learn to make that swatch work for you. Learning how to use the swatch that you have made will save headache and heartache later on down the knitting or crochet road. You will learn how to use the swatch to determine how much yarn a project takes using your choice of yarn and needle or hook; how to adjust the size of the finished item; and how many stitches can be made from the amount of yarn you have. Beyond the swatch, we will discuss how to change yarn weight and/or needle or hook size and still make the desired pattern. We will also cover what to do when a pattern says to increase or decrease evenly. A small workbook will be provided with all the information we cover in class. Also, you can take it with you and continue to use the new skills you've learned. Please bring to class any patterns and yarns that you'd like to pair together and the desired needle or hook for them.
Students should bring something to write with, tape measure, and the materials required to complete the homework.
