Do you love birds and have a lot of bird photographs? If so, this fun and relaxing workshop is for you! The workshop will begin with a 1-hour demo utilizing a PanPastel and ink underpainting followed by soft pastel application. After the demonstration, attendees will complete a color study and some PanPastel exercises before creating their own pastel masterpiece. You can look forward to lots of individual attention at your easel and uninterrupted painting time. All attendees will leave with a finished pastel. The second day of the workshop will focus on painting birds in a complex background—the tangled branches and brush that situate a bird in its natural environment. A 1-hour demo of a raptor will show you how to achieve a multi-layered, mysterious background with lots of depth for the bird of your choice in the landscape. Emphasis will be on layered techniques, and lost and found edges, and how to make the bird blend into the environment.
