Gigi Chen was born in Guangdong, China, and raised in New York City. Her work combines her training as a traditional animator alongside Old Master painting techniques. Entrenched in the art of storytelling, Gigi’s art pulls together contemporary idioms of cartooning, photo-realism, texture and design to produce works that coalesce into Love, Craft and Fun. As a host of Artists Network’s “Painting Together with Acrylics,”she demonstrated the fundamentals of acrylic painting. Gigi’s work has been exhibited at Stone Sparrow Gallery, Deep Space Gallery and Antler Gallery. She was most recently an Artist-in-Residence with the 4Heads Organization on Governors Island, New York City.
