This class will take your earring designs to a whole new level. Forge and fabricate up to four pairs of hoop earrings in this exciting class of metal manipulation. First, learn how to forge a horseshoe shape and or a petal with a twist from heavy wire. Then texture, stamp and/or roll sheet metal and fabricate anticlastic circles. Finally, learn how to make hollow hoops from tubing. You will also make a variety of ear wires including hand crafted posts snf how to solder posts to your finished pieces.
Students must bring a permanent marker, pliers (chain, round, flat nose), side flush cutters, flush-cutter, multi-looping pliers, ruler 6", Dremel or rotary tool, #55 HSS drill bit, 3M radial bristles (blue, pink, peach, green), bench block, chasing hammer, texture hammer, rawhide mallet, #2 file, jewelers’ saw, 2/0 saw blades, Cut Lube, bench pin, ring or hoop mandrel, and 220/600 sandpaper. Optional: Snap mandrel with 220 grit sanding disc, design stamps, needle files. You may also wish to bring your own soldering set-up: butane torch, solderite board or similar, fire tweezers, quench cup, flux, copper tongs, silver solder, and tray. Instructor will have tools to share.
