Date & Time
Sunday, August 3, 2025, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description

This workshop bridges the traditional art of Māori cloak weaving with contemporary knitting techniques, focusing on the "Once Were Weavers" pattern. Participants will create a mini prototype of a knitted piece that features innovative open cable stitches—a technique developed specifically for this pattern to mimic the intricate weaving patterns found in traditional Māori cloaks. This session offers a unique opportunity to explore how traditional weaving patterns can inspire and transform modern knitwear designs. The Once Were Weavers pattern will be provided to students via email prior to the workshop.
