This brand-new class combines fine silver with gorgeous, shimmering abalone. Each student will create a pair of dangle earrings from fine silver: we will learn how to use embeddable findings and how to securely anchor earring posts. After firing, the earrings will be decorated with an inlay of abalone in your choice of color and sealed with a small amount of resin. Wear your beautiful earrings home and enjoy the compliments!
Roller, such as a piece of PVC pipe. Piece of Saran Wrap. Small amount of water and olive oil. Clean paintbrush and rubber-tipped clay shaper. Drying surface, such as small mug warmer, food dehydrator, etc. 3” by 3” square of a heat-proof material, such as a piece of a reusable baking sheet. Tweezers, small scissors. Cutting tool, such as a scalpel or needle tool. 12 playing cards. Shape template or cookie cutter in desired shape, no larger than 3/4 inch in diameter. Smaller cutter/template of the same shape. Clear nail polish or UV resin. 2 chain-nose pliers. Brass wire brush if available. Metal clay paste and/or syringe if available. Butane kitchen torch, butane fuel and silica block or other firing surface. Optional: Ornamental nail art molds or similar.
